Taman Saraswati Temple and Kecak Dance

Pura Taman Saraswati is a remarkable Balinese Hindu water sanctuary given to the Hindu Goddess Saraswati in Ubud. Taman Saraswati Temple is a very amazing stopover that is located along the road around the city of Ubud, inside the Taman Saraswati Temple you will see a lake piled with pink lotus in bloom.

The front of the Taman Saraswati Temple is like a home to a magnificent lotus pond. The water that fills this pond is obtained from an irrigation scheme that provides water to green rice fields located in the upper area of   the city.

If you come to the temple after the afternoon, then you will see a kecak dance performance held here which starts at 19:30 every day. You will be charged an entrance fee of approximately Rp. 80,000 per person if you want to directly see the Kecak dance performance in the temple area. Or you can also enjoy the performance from Lotus Cafe without the entrance fee. It's just that tourists have to pay to order dinner with prices around Rp. 200,000. So come and have dinner here and watch the show.



Pura Taman Saraswati Temple was built to conform to the Tri Mandala rules, which is a temple structure concept. The design of the Taman Saraswati Temple consists of three zones of divine mandala arranged according to the sacred hierarchy, this zone itself consists of Nista mandala, Madya mandala, and Utama mandala.

- Nista Mandala is the outer zone which is the entrance to the temple from outside the environment. This zone is usually in the form of a park or field, can be used for dance performances or preparation for religious ceremonies. Before entering Mandala Nista, there is Candi Bentar, which serves as a general selection.

- Madya Mandala or also called the middle zone where people do activities and supporting facilities. In this zone there are Bale Kul-kul, Bale Gong, Wantilan, Bale Pesandekan, and Perantenan. In some temples, Bale Kul-kul and Perantenan are in Nista Mandala.

- Main Mandala is the deepest zone, and is the most sacred place of a temple. To be able to enter this place, people must go through Kori Agung or Candi Kurung with 3 doors. The main door is located in the middle, while the other two doors flank the main door. In this zone there are Padmasana, Pelinggih, Meru, Bale Piyasan, Bale Pepelik, Bale Panggungan, Bale Pawedan, Bale Murda, and Gedong Penyimpenan.

The location of Taman Saraswati Temple is located on Jalan Kajeng, Ubud. The location of Taman Saraswati Temple is close to Lotus Cafe. If you depart from Kuta Beach Bali heading to Pura Taman Saraswati Ubud, it takes about 1 hour 30 minutes to travel.
